1927 to 2020
The Robert L. Lowe, Sr. Foundation is built upon the legacy of Robert Leon Lowe, Sr., a man deeply rooted in the community. A proud native, Robert's life was marked by service, dedication, and a profound commitment to his neighbors.
Robert's journey began at Ambler High School, followed by his service in the United States Air Corps, where he received a World War II Victory Medal and a Certificate of Honorable Discharge. This foundation of service continued throughout his life. Robert became a recognized "Citizen of the Week" by the Ambler Gazette in 1971 for his active involvement in keeping his neighborhood pristine. He was a familiar sight on his tractor removing litter and abandoned cars, while also actively engaging at Lower Gwynedd township meetings, advocating for property maintenance standards.
Robert was known for his remarkable work ethic, which guided his diverse career. He began as the Maintenance Foreman of the Fort Washington Industrial Park, transitioned into an Operating Engineer for Lindy Concrete Company, and ultimately became a partner in the company. This partnership with Philip Lindy blossomed into the creation of Lindy Property Management, a real estate investment venture that has become the foundation of a successful business. His final major investment with Lindy Property Management was The Towers at Wyncote in Wyncote, PA. Robert was a savvy investor and was involved in many real estate ventures, including owning the Richfield Gas Station on Butler Pike in Ambler, PA. He also built and designed the home that he lived in until his passing.
Beyond professional accomplishments, Robert dedicated himself to his community. He served as a Manager in the Lower Gwynedd Little League, worked tirelessly on local political campaigns, and ensured the paving of both the Bethlehem Baptist Church parking lot in Penllyn and the driveway of Rose Valley Cemetery. His contributions were acknowledged with a Certificate of Appreciation from State Legislator Kate Harper in 2006 and a Resolution from State Representative Dwight Evans in 2007.
While real estate was his passion, Robert's greatest joy was his family. He was known for his love of Cadillacs, the Philadelphia Eagles, and his generous spirit. Above all, he was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend.
In December of 2019, Robert established the Robert L. Lowe, Sr. Foundation with his grandson, Kenneth Lowe, Jr. The Foundation is a Non-Profit Organization that aims to carry on Robert's legacy of service by giving back to the community he so cherished. We are committed to supporting projects and initiatives that reflect his dedication to community, hard work, and family values. We believe in being a positive force, just as Robert was.
